Company number: 13618356
For the Financial Year Ending 31 March 2026
Publication Date: 10th August 2026
Connect Medical Solutions Limited (CMS) is committed to responsible business practices and to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with its UK operations and healthcare workforce supply activities. This Carbon Reduction Plan has been prepared for the 2026 reporting year using activity data for 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025.
In accordance with Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 006: Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the Procurement of Major Government Contracts, updated July 2025, suppliers bidding for relevant public contracts must provide a Carbon Reduction Plan confirming their commitment to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. CMS has adopted an earlier Net Zero target of 2040.
CMS retains 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022 as its formal baseline year. The previously published detailed baseline emissions table reported total emissions of 79.0857 tCO2e, comprising Scope 1 of 0.0000 tCO2e, Scope 2 of 3.2006 tCO2e and Scope 3 of 75.8851 tCO2e. This detailed total is used as the formal baseline for this updated plan and for measuring future progress.
The updated 2025 calculation uses UK Government 2025 greenhouse gas conversion factors and the latest activity information available to CMS. Where precise activity data was unavailable, reasonable and documented estimates have been used. The resulting 2025 footprint is 50.0633 tCO2e, representing an estimated reduction of approximately 36.7% against the detailed 2022 baseline of 79.0857 tCO2e.
CMS is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2040 through the following long-term targets:
These targets will be reviewed annually and adjusted based on operational performance, business growth, progress against objectives and emerging technologies.
CMS continues to refine its Scope 3 carbon accounting in line with PPN 006 guidance and recognised greenhouse gas reporting standards. Reporting includes relevant upstream activities such as employee and healthcare worker commuting, business travel, purchased goods and services, and supplier-related transportation where applicable.
From the 2025 reporting year onwards, CMS will continue to improve the completeness of Scope 3 reporting by considering additional downstream activities associated with the delivery of recruitment and workforce supply services, including cloud-hosted systems, candidate onboarding activities and client-facing business travel, where reliable data is available and the activities are material to the organisation’s carbon footprint.
Environmental and sustainability considerations are incorporated into supplier selection and business-partner due diligence where appropriate. As supplier reporting continues to mature, CMS will encourage greater sustainability data sharing and carbon-reporting alignment across its value chain.
Our objective is to improve the completeness, consistency and accuracy of Scope 3 reporting each year as operational data improves and reporting methodologies continue to evolve.
Our Carbon Reduction Plan has been developed with reference to the environmental management principles of ISO 14001, providing a structured framework for identifying, monitoring and continually improving environmental performance. This wording describes alignment with the principles of the standard and does not imply ISO 14001 certification.
Internal engagement is fundamental to achieving our carbon reduction objectives. Environmental responsibilities are reinforced through management review and ongoing awareness activities. CMS promotes sustainable working practices through its remote-first operating model, digital-first business processes, minimisation of unnecessary travel and consideration of environmental impacts when making operational and business decisions.
Where complete activity data is unavailable, CMS uses recognised estimation methodologies together with the latest UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors. This provides a proportionate and transparent assessment of the carbon footprint while allowing data quality and completeness to improve year-on-year.
This Carbon Reduction Plan covers the UK operations of Connect Medical Solutions Limited. During 2025, CMS had three internal staff: two directors and one business manager. All three worked from home throughout the reporting year. The registered address at 147 Underwood Place, Oldbrook, Milton Keynes, England, MK6 2TT was used for business correspondence and approximately 10 letters were received there during the year.
CMS had approximately 150-160 active healthcare workers per month. Approximately 10-15 workers per month were paid through CMS PAYE arrangements, while the majority were paid through umbrella companies. Healthcare-worker placement travel is included within the Scope 3 footprint for transparency and consistency, while the employment basis is clearly identified in the methodology.
Connect Medical Solutions Limited recognises the role businesses play in addressing climate change and is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. The company’s approach is proportionate to its remote operating model while recognising that the majority of the measured footprint arises from indirect Scope 3 activities.
The following environmental management measures were in place during the 2025 reporting year:
These measures will be reviewed annually and adjusted where appropriate in response to business activity, improved data availability and emerging good practice.
Baseline Year: 1 January 2022 – 31 December 2022
The detailed baseline figures below are retained from CMS’s previously published Carbon Reduction Plan and are used as the formal reference point for measuring progress.
EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 – Direct Emissions | 0.0000 |
Scope 2 – Indirect Emissions | 3.2006 |
Scope 3 – Included Sources | 75.8851 |
Total Emissions | 79.0857 |
Note: the previously published CMS webpage includes a narrative reference to 75.88 tCO2e as the 2022 baseline; however, its detailed Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 table totals 79.0857 tCO2e. This updated plan uses the detailed table total of 79.0857 tCO2e for consistency and mathematical reconciliation.
Detailed 2022 baseline components: Electricity 3.1061 tCO2e; Gas (heating) 0.0945 tCO2e; Waste Generated in Operations 2.1281 tCO2e; Upstream Transportation & Distribution 0.0000 tCO2e; Downstream Transportation & Distribution 0.0000 tCO2e; Business Travel 0.0000 tCO2e; Commuting 68.3311 tCO2e; Work From Home 5.4259 tCO2e.
The calculation uses activity data for the 2025 calendar year and the UK Government 2025 greenhouse gas conversion factors. The principal factors applied are:
Healthcare-worker travel is estimated from 16,000 completed shifts, a 20-mile return journey per shift and the agreed modal split. Homeworking is estimated from 5,520 FTE working hours. Business travel is estimated from approximately 1,000 passenger miles. Waste is estimated at 260 kg per year, with a 50% recycled / 50% residual split.
The 160 ID badges and approximately 10 letters are disclosed as part of the operational narrative. No separate material courier/freight figure has been added because carrier-distance activity data is not available and the physical volumes are small relative to the total organisational footprint.
Current Year: 1 January 2025 – 31 December 2025
This updated 2025 footprint supersedes the previously published 2025 total of 20.3514 tCO2e because the revised calculation incorporates the current activity data provided for approximately 16,000 healthcare shifts and the updated operating assumptions documented in this plan.
EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO2e) |
Scope 1 – Direct Emissions | 0.0000 |
Scope 2 – Purchased electricity, heat, steam or cooling | 0.0000 |
Scope 3 – Waste Generated in Operations | 0.0683 |
Scope 3 – Upstream Transportation & Distribution | 0.0000 |
Scope 3 – Downstream Transportation & Distribution | 0.0000 |
Scope 3 – Business Travel | 0.0705 |
Scope 3 – Commuting / healthcare-worker travel | 48.0820 |
Scope 3 – Work From Home | 1.8425 |
Scope 3 Total | 50.0633 |
Total Emissions | 50.0633 |
Scope 1: No company-controlled combustion, owned/controlled vehicles or dedicated business premises have been included in the 2025 reporting boundary.
Scope 2: No separately metered or directly purchased office electricity, heat, steam or cooling has been included. The internal team worked remotely, and homeworking impacts are reported separately within Scope 3.
Waste Generated in Operations: estimated at approximately 260 kg per year, with 50% recycled and 50% residual waste. Where the residual treatment route is not evidenced, a conservative landfill factor has been applied.
Upstream Transportation & Distribution: no material freight or distribution activity was identified. Purchased ID-card materials and limited incoming correspondence are disclosed in the narrative but no separate freight-distance dataset is available.
Downstream Transportation & Distribution: CMS does not sell or distribute physical products. Approximately 160 lightweight ID badges were posted to UK healthcare workers; the volume is small and no carrier-distance activity dataset was available for a reliable separate freight calculation.
Business Travel: approximately 1,000 passenger miles using an estimated split of 60% national rail, 25% London Underground and 15% average local bus.
Commuting / healthcare-worker travel: based on approximately 16,000 UK shifts, 20 miles return per shift and a modal split of 35% average car, 25% national rail, 25% local bus and 15% walking/cycling. CMS had approximately 150-160 active workers per month, around 10-15 paid through PAYE and the majority through umbrella companies.
Work From Home: calculated from 5,520 FTE working hours for the three internal staff using the UK Government 2025 homeworking factor.
